Day +20

At this point, I'm not sure that days post transplant is an appropriate title to my post, but it keeps me from having to think too much. Jeff's status today is a little worse than yesterday. His kidneys are failing, and it's likely that dialysis will be started sometime soon. The settings on the vent needed to be bumped up again today to ensure that his blood is getting enough oxygen, and he is still relying on meds to keep his pressure up.

For the most part, Jeff seems to be relatively comfortable. He shows an occasional sign of irritation, but that usually only happens when someone is fiddling with him. I am also sure that on some level of consciousness he knows that we are here and is listening to what we are saying.

In case you haven't guessed, the situation here is pretty dire, but there is still some hope that the meds and Jeff's new immune system will be able to fight off the infection. In the mean time, we are taking things minute by minute.

I thank you again,Jamie, for keeping us up to date. I don't know if I would be able to focus at this point on the needs of others. Hopefully this keeps your cell phone from ringing a couple of times. We all know of people and circumstances that are like this, that people pull out of...I can think of at least two reality shows about it. Jeff has a strong Eckert/Wehler will with you and JD to come back to. We love you and are sending strength and prayers.

Jamie,

You are a very strong person, your strength continues to amaze me. Please know that there are way more people thinking and praying for all of you than you can even imagine. I am sure giving your little guy a big hug at the end of a long day is more comforting than anything we can say, but please know our prayers are with you all.

Keep up the fight it will be worth it!

Sending extra prayers and thoughts your way today for you, Jeff. I have seen it first hand Jamie and know that it does make a difference that you are there by his side. He knows! Talk to him and tell him everything you ordinarily would... Take care and stay strong!

Hoping and praying constantly, as is most of St. Marys, I am sure. Stay positive Jaime, and may you continue to have the strength you need to help Jeff through. Make sure you take moments for yourself, as well, so that you can remain strong and positive. We're all pulling for you!
